Expect Overnight Delays on Downing Bridge Wednesday, Sept. 30-Saturday, Oct. 3

FREDERICKSBURG – Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) crews continue to clean the Downing Bridge over the Rappahannock River in the Tappahannock area, requiring additional overnight lane closures this week.

Bridge cleaning helps to protect structures by removing dirt and debris that can contribute to deterioration.

A single lane will be closed on the Route 360 bridge between Richmond County and the Town of Tappahannock at the following dates and times:

Wednesday, Sept. 30-Saturday, Oct. 3

7 p.m.-6 a.m. (ending early Sunday, Oct. 4)

Single lane closure

Travelers should anticipate brief delays crossing the bridge on these evenings. One-way, alternating traffic will be directed through the work zone.

Work has been scheduled to occur weather permitting. Updates on traffic and lane closures for this work zone will be available on 511 Virginia. Travelers can also download the free mobile 511 Virginia app or call 511 from any phone in Virginia.
